Abstract

This thesis presents an in-depth study of the use of symbols and literary manifestations in the poetry of Majed Al-Hassan, a prominent contemporary Arab poet. The research aims to analyze the profound role of symbolism in reflecting social, cultural, and psychological concepts within his poetry. The study is based on the fundamental hypothesis that the symbols and literary manifestations in Majed Al-Hassan's poems transcend mere aesthetic tools; rather, they are effectively employed as means to convey complex social messages and embody individual and collective experiences.

The research adopted a descriptive-analytical methodology, relying on documentary and library sources for data collection. The collected data was meticulously analyzed using a content analysis approach, through a careful examination of Majed Al-Hassan's poetic works, with the aim of uncovering the various dimensions of symbols and literary manifestations.

The research findings indicate that symbolism in Majed Al-Hassan's poetry goes beyond the aesthetic dimension to become a powerful tool for representing social, psychological, and philosophical complexities. The symbols used in his poetry, which vary between natural elements, urban imagery, and mythological references, serve a multi-layered function, allowing for multiple readings and interpretations. The research also revealed that Al-Hassan employs these symbols to create a close link between individual and collective experiences, as these symbols reflect psychological and social conditions and encourage the reader to move from superficial meanings to deeper levels of contemplation on major human issues.

The results further indicate that the pictorial and linguistic manifestations in Al-Hassan's poetry, by creating suspense and ambiguity, prompt the reader to actively interact and participate in the process of meaning construction. Additionally, the internal rhythm and complex grammatical structures lend his poetry depth and polyphony, effectively enriching the process of interpretation and exegesis. Furthermore, the research clarifies that symbolism in Al-Hassan's poetry was not only used for artistic expression but also became a tool for social critique and rethinking power relations, contributing to the creation of a multidimensional space that invites the reader to critically reflect on cultural, political, and identity issues.
