Abstract

The current research aims to uncover obstacles to implementing extracurricular arts activities and to identify the factors that encourage student participation in extracurricular arts activities.

To achieve the research objectives, the researcher adopted a descriptive survey approach. The questionnaire was used as the primary tool for his research, as it is considered an appropriate tool for gathering the necessary information. The questionnaire was distributed across two areas, with (20) items for each area.

In light of the research results, the following conclusions emerged:

  1. 1. Artistic activities are generally limited to art education teachers in organizing art exhibitions only, within the prescribed curriculum.
  2. 2. School teachers have not fully embraced art activities, and art activities have not received sufficient support to develop these activities, except within narrow limits that do not include all branches and fields of art activities. Furthermore, there is no plan to organize the work of various art activities, and they are almost spontaneous in their implementation.
  3. 3. The importance of conducting continuous evaluations of art activities. It is also necessary to plan art activities scientifically and thoughtfully.

The research resulted in the following key recommendations:

  1. 1. School administration efforts should be directed toward increasing student participation in all forms of art activities, regardless of their diversity, given their importance in developing a well-rounded student.
  2. 2. Activate extracurricular school art activities, in accordance with the educational objectives of art activities and in line with the nature of study in educational facilities.
  3. 3. Provide students with the necessary time to engage in art activities, with weekends being used to engage in art activities that cannot be practiced during regular school hours.
