This research aims to identify "the effect of the alternative word system strategy on the achievement of Arabic grammar among second-grade intermediate female students."
To achieve the research objective, the researcher formulated the following null hypothesis:
- There is no statistically significant difference at a significance level of (0.05) between the average scores of students in the experimental group studying Arabic grammar using the alternative word system strategy and the average scores of students in the control group studying the same subject using the traditional achievement method.
The researcher followed the experimental approach and adopted a partially controlled experimental design, which is a control group design with an achievement test. To achieve the objective, the researcher randomly selected the Oran School affiliated with the General Directorate of Education of Rusafa II. Two classes from the second-grade intermediate class were then randomly selected and distributed. Section (A) represented the experimental group, and Section (B) represented the control group. The research sample consisted of (61) female students, comprising (30) students for the experimental group and (31) students for the control group. The researcher adjusted for a number of variables, including (chronological age calculated in months, fathers' academic achievement, mothers' academic achievement, Arabic language grades for the previous year, and a language proficiency test).
After the researcher identified (6) topics for the scientific material she would teach during the experimental period and prepared the teaching plans for them, she presented them to a group of experts and specialists to judge their suitability. The necessary modifications were made, and the plans were ready for implementation in light of their opinions and observations. The researcher prepared an achievement test, presented it to experts and specialists, and verified its validity, reliability, the discriminating power of its items, its difficulty coefficient, and the effectiveness of false alternatives. Using statistical methods (SPSS26), the test was administered to the two research groups (experimental and control) at the end of the experiment. The test consisted of (30) items, and after correcting the students' answers, the researcher reached the following conclusion:
There is a statistically significant difference at a significance level of (0.05) between the scores of the students in the two research groups in the achievement of Arabic grammar rules. The difference is between the scores of the students in the experimental group who studied Arabic grammar using the (alternative word system) strategy, and the scores of the students in the control group who studied Arabic grammar using the traditional method, in favor of the experimental group. In light of the findings of this study, the researcher drew several conclusions, including:
- The use of the "alternative word system" strategy contributed to increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the teaching process, as demonstrated by the study.
The researcher proposed conducting further studies in this area, including conducting a similar study in other branches of the Arabic language.
