This study aims to analyze the elements of textual cohesion in Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf al-Thaqafi's speech upon his appointment over Iraq, presenting it as a distinctive model for analysis within the framework of text linguistics and using the textual analysis method. Textual cohesion is considered a fundamental element in constructing textual coherence, according to Beaugrande, particularly in terms of its semantic structure. This can only be achieved through the availability of various textual cohesion tools. The researcher will examine these elements by analyzing the role of context, background knowledge (world knowledge), overall structure (the subject of the discourse), and intentionality in achieving cohesion within the speech. Despite the brevity of the speech, it is distinguished by a high degree of semantic cohesion and textual structure interconnection, making it a rich domain for studying the application of cohesion elements.
