Geographical analysis of the state of urban housing in the city of Khalidiya

Abstract

The research revolves around the subject of the urban housing situation in the city of Khalidiya to identify the housing and demographic reality in order for us to know the size of the housing problem and provide solutions that would limit the deficit in housing units. The city of Khalidiya witnessed urban expansion due to the increase in population , which was reflected in the expansion of residential use during its growth stages urban, and with the absence of a housing policy, the housing problem has worsened. As the housing appeared in the city of Khalidiya in two aspects: quantitative and qualitative. The research on the quantitative side on the quantitative data on the housing situation in the city and according to the population census of 1997, and the results showed that the amount of housing deficit in 1997 amounted to 111 housing units, while the expected deficit for the year 2027 , it reached 14183 housing units , while the research relied on eight criteria to determine the quality housing problem in the city after relying on a sample or 10% of the housing units located in the residential neighborhoods to which the questionnaire was distributed, and three patterns of housing units differed in their problems . most of them are in the type of housing of poor quality and the least of them are in the type of housing good quality
