Abstract

The process of recycling solid waste is at the forefront of environmental problems in urban areas because of its direct impact on the quality of human life and the appearance of civilization and the consequent serious repercussions on comprehensive development. The city of Mosul suffers from many urban and environmental problems, the most prominent of which is the problem of solid waste and its spread throughout the city, especially in the left side of it, which distorts the aesthetic image of the urban fabric of the city. The research aims to shed light on the process of waste recycling and choose the most suitable sites for establishing recycling plants in view of its important and prominent role that it plays in the growth of the economies of most countries, being an essential element of economic activity at the present time. And due to the great danger arising from this waste, which affects human health and distorts the urban landscape of the city, the research concluded that a number of sites were selected according to specific criteria in the light of which geographic information systems programs were used to determine the most suitable places for waste recycling factories. Program (Arc gis 10.8) according to a number of standards that have been set related to transportation methods and distance from the population, to avoid environmental damage that may result from factories.
