Abstract

Water services are one of the most important services that must be provided to the residents of any region or city, regardless of the type of environment in which they live, and the efficiency and adequacy of this service is essential to determine what the actual reality of this service is. It became clear by studying the reality of this service in the governorates of Iraq that there is a discrepancy in the number of operating, discontinued and partially operating productive stations. It was also found that there is inequality in the provision of this service between urban and rural residents for the year (2019), as the percentage of the urban population served by water reached (91.93%), while the percentage of the population served in the countryside amounted to (64.16%), which is an important indicator indicating the unfairness of the distribution The service for its water services. When evaluating the efficiency of the service provided to the population, it was found that the per capita rate of the population served varied between the Iraqi governorates, which indicates a clear deficit in the quantity necessary to provide the population with potable water.
