Abstract

Abstract

The study aims to determine the most important environmental impacts of the "Al-Barakiyah" sewage treatment plant in Al-Najaf Governorate by identifying the most important environmental problems resulting from it and assessing the quality of the water coming out of the station after filtering it, and it was compared to the environmental, health and planning standards. Most of them were outside the permissible limit. Which has negatively affected the surrounding environment and the residents of neighboring neighborhoods.

The field survey of the "Al-Barakiya" sewage treatment plant showed that there is a significant increase in the levels of pollutant concentrations, as the concentrations were compared with standard criteria and determinants for these pollutants, where it was noticed that there was a large variation in concentrations, most of which exceed the specified standard, which means that the water is polluted and very poor. The main reason is due to the stopping of some The projects inside the station stop working and its lack of efficiency, in addition to the station not absorbing water that exceeds its capacity, which causes confusion in the work of the station and not receiving excess water and throwing it to the Kufa Shatt, the drainage water or the Najaf sea to get rid of the surplus. The direct method matrix was used (direct method) And the method of lists to identify the most important environmental problems resulting from wastewater treatment.
