Unbalanced spatial development And its impact on the manifestations of deprivation in the Muthanna province
Abstract
Al-Muthanna Governorate is one of the governorates of Iraq, which is characterized by its vast area and its various resources, but it suffers from deprivation cases in services and development projects. This research came to study the aspects of development and its spatial distribution in Al-Muthanna Governorate and identify the most important causes of spatial variation of development projects and deprivation of these areas.
The study showed that there is a variation in the population distribution, industrial and agricultural economic activities, and pivotal structures such as water, sewage, roads, and housing units projects, as they are concentrated in the Samawah district, the center of al- Muthanna Governorate and the Rumaitha district, while population numbers fluctuate and manifestations of deprivation are concentrated in the Salman district and in a near-case No projects and services. This resulted from two main factors, the nature of the desert region and the defect in the spatial and regional development policies for development projects in the study area. The study reached a set of proposals that would contribute to the development of all regions.
