Abstract

The research deals with an important environmental problem that affects some Iraqi universities, schools and educational institutions in general and Diyala University in particular, and it is the problem of accumulation of paper waste resulting from the exams of some faculties of Diyala University (pure sciences, basic education, science and agriculture) for the academic year 2017-2018, most of which are in The location of the Mouradia complex within the administrative boundaries of the Baqubah district and southwest of the city of Baquba on the right side of the Diyala River, along the external transport road of Baquba - old Baghdad, specifically within the district of 27 / Al-Katoun, i.e. between two latitude (99 33/47 and 33) north of the equator and between longitude ( 35-44-40-44) east of the Kering Line. And an area I occupied (5557 square meters). And the College of Basic Education, which is located in Al-Mustafa neighborhood on the right side of the Diyala River, and is located on Zain Al-Qaws Street, with an area of ​​(4960 square meters), where the researcher adopted the method of statistical analysis in analyzing research data and extracting numbers and quantities of paper waste for the academic year 2017-2018 and for the morning and evening studies and the college departments , Where the research concluded that the amount of paper waste had reached the four previous colleges a total of (4445.84 kg), depending on the number of consumed examination books, which amounted to the above faculties, a total of (127064 examination notebooks) dedicated to (9046 students) for the morning and evening studies by (1892 subjects) Examinations (for the morning and evening studies, in addition to the research's adoption of the statistical method in estimating the amount of paper waste resulting from colleges for the academic year 2029-2030, if the number of students continued to increase, as the researcher estimated that the amount of paper waste consumed by the aforementioned colleges was estimated) 280,978.71 kg) resulting from the consumption of (8027963 examination notebooks) intended for (13,669 students) by (1892) examination materials. The researcher recommends a set of solutions to this problem, uh. Maha opened paper factories that are not operating in the country and opened another factory in each governorate at the very least, to recycle protective waste and not to dispose of it in traditional methods such as burning or landfilling. Conducting environmental studies of this kind and spreading environmental awareness about methods of sorting and collecting paper waste
