Planning for social sustainability after the Coronavirus pandemic
Abstract
Today, Iraqi society suffers from many social crises caused by the spread of the new Corona virus, and therefore the concerned authorities should quickly plan for social sustainability, which is one of the most important pillars of which is the human being,
which is the cornerstone of any development process, and it is he who pushes his work to grow to where the community wants In light of his available capabilities and resources, most social thinkers have unanimously agreed on the human being as the basis for change, and on achieving social development, but they differed in defining its concept.
The requirements for preserving human capabilities (social capital) are: (providing opportunities for continuous education, providing opportunities to develop human skills, providing reform programs, providing opportunities for the development of innovation, providing opportunities to contribute to improving the conditions of society).
The requirements for preserving the community’s capabilities are: (supporting and encouraging economic development, preserving the identity and culture of the community, participating in general community work, providing opportunities for social interaction, encouraging and supporting social networks).
The requirements of social sustainability are meeting the basic needs of the human being, improving his social conditions, improving participation in a democratic framework, enabling social innovation, ensuring the equitable distribution of resources, improving the conditions of the population in society, and continuing, maintaining and developing social capital.
