Linguistic Structures of the Personification of (*Al-Dahr*), in the Poetry of Ibn al-Habbariyyah (b. 509 A.H): A Rhetorical-Critical Study

Abstract

The expression (*al-Dahr*) serves as an active objective correlative in shaping the structure of the poetic text and guiding its creative techniques. In this context, personification emerges as a vital stylistic tool that imbues poetic discourse with semantic density and rhetorical and critical dimensions, embodying the aesthetics of language. This efficacy is clearly evident in the poetic corpus of Ibn al-Habbariyah; the connotations of Time and its cosmic manifestations served as a source that enriched the poet's thought and broadened his horizons. Coupled with a fertile imagination, this enabled him to craft a rich body of literature reflecting his interaction with the natural world. The interplay of rhetorical devices with the mechanisms of personification and the anthropomorphism of cosmic phenomena not only highlighted the poet's philosophical vision but also infused his texts with a vitality through which his innermost emotions flowed via description and imagery. Consequently, studying the applications and varied forms of personification in his poetry constitutes a significant critical juncture for revealing the dimensions of meaning and appreciating its artistic impact.
