Aesthetics of the Josephite Symbol in Andalusian Poetry: A Study in Artistic and Semantic Structure

Abstract

This study investigates the "Aesthetics of the Josephian Symbol" in Andalusian poetry, viewing it as a pivotal motif where religious dimensions intersect with aesthetic formation. The research focuses on the poetic experiences of Ibn Zaydun and Ibn Khafaja to observe how the Quranic narrative is transformed from its historical context into a symbolic space expressing personal and societal issues. The significance of this study lies in uncovering the mechanisms of intertextuality and the rhetorical construction of symbolic elements (such as the shirt, the well, and beauty), while tracing their semantic shifts between emotional longing and psychological or political suffering. Employing an analytical-artistic approach to interpret the texts, the study concludes that the Josephian symbol in Andalusia was not merely a religious invocation, but rather an artistic mask reflecting the uniqueness of the Andalusian environment, the tribulations of its poets, and their aspirations for deliverance and beauty.
