Moses' staff between ancient tradition and the Holy Quran (A contemporary study)

Abstract

This research is of great importance, as it addresses one of the ambiguous issues in the Holy Qur’an. The researcher of the Qur’an seeks to discover what lies between the lines and reach the intended meaning. However, an important question remains: can this meaning actually be reached

   The staff of Moses (peace be upon him), given its power and authority, is a significant subject in this regard. The Qur’an suddenly ceases to mention it after it had been associated with numerous events and miracles. Here, the ancient heritage attempts to provide explanations for its disappearance; however, it is limited to narrating accounts that have no connection to historical truth.

   In this research, I have examined some accounts found in contemporary sources and compared them with the verses of the Qur’an. After careful examination, I found them to be closer to the truth. I also discuss the contemporary scholarly study of this subject, presenting both what has been transmitted through ancient heritage and what contemporary research has contributed.

   This demonstrates that the Qur’an continues to remain alive and rich with ideas and knowledge until the end of time.
