Abstract

examined racial discrimination from an Islamic perspective, focusing on its concept, major forms, and causes, while highlighting the position of the Qur’an and the Sunnah toward it. The study found that racism is based on favoring individuals or groups because of race, color, lineage, or social affiliation, which contradicts the principles of justice and equality emphasized by Islam.
The Islamic approach to combating racism is based on the unity of human origin, equality among people, rejection of tribalism and pride in ancestry, and recognition of piety and righteous deeds as the basis of human distinction. Islamic teachings also emphasize the preservation of human dignity and equality in rights and duties, making the fight against discrimination an essential part of social justice in Islam.

Main Conclusions

The research concluded that discrimination and tribalism are longstanding phenomena that Islam addressed through clear principles. Human superiority is not determined by color, origin, or social status, but rather by piety and righteous conduct. The Qur’an and the Sunnah established the values of brotherhood and equality and rejected tribal prejudice and pride in ancestry. The study also found that the persistence of racial discrimination in some societies is associated with limited awareness of these principles or their inadequate implementation. Therefore, equality in Islam is not merely a theoretical value but a practical principle that should be reflected in social and legal life.

Main Recommendations and Suggestions

The study recommends strengthening religious and social awareness of the dangers of racism and incorporating the values of equality and tolerance into educational curricula. It also recommends using religious sermons, media, and social media platforms to promote coexistence and reject prejudice. Furthermore, religious and legal institutions should play a greater role in combating discriminatory practices and encouraging dialogue among different groups within society. The establishment of specialized research centers and the organization of conferences and seminars on peaceful coexistence are also recommended. In addition, field studies should be conducted to identify manifestations of racism and develop practical solutions to address them.
