العلمانية والهوية اللغوية العربية: دراسة نقدية في أثر الفكر العلماني على مكانة اللغة العربية الفصحى

Abstract

   Modern Standard Arabic is regarded as one of the most significant civilizational foundations shaping the identity of the Arab and Islamic nation. It is the language of the Holy Qur’an and the medium through which the intellectual and cultural heritage of the الأمة has been preserved throughout the centuries. With the increasing influence of imported intellectual currents, particularly secular thought, which has often been associated with projects of cultural westernization, several challenges have emerged that have affected the status of the Arabic language and its presence in public life.

  This study aims to examine the relationship between secular thought and Arab linguistic identity and to analyze the most prominent manifestations through which this thought has influenced the reality of Modern Standard Arabic. These manifestations include the promotion of colloquial dialects, the growing dominance of foreign languages, and the restructuring of educational, cultural, and media policies in ways that have contributed to weakening the role of Standard Arabic in certain domains.

The findings reveal that the Arabic language has not merely been targeted as a means of communication, but also as a carrier of the religious, cultural, and civilizational identity of the nation. Consequently, preserving and strengthening the Arabic language constitutes a cultural and civilizational necessity that contributes to safeguarding identity and reinforcing a sense of belonging.
