Abstract

This research addresses an important phenomenon: functional changes in Street 20 in Ramadi. As one of the important streets located on the outskirts of central development, the study focuses on monitoring the changes that have occurred on the street since 2003 The study examined the baseline year and subsequent changes in land use classification, then investigated the causes and effects of this phenomenon. The research employed a comprehensive field survey, personal interviews, and the distribution of questionnaires to a random sample of approximately 253 forms. The study concluded that this functional change, from 2003 to 2025, reached approximately 97% From residential to other uses, wholesale and retail commercial, commercial services and doctors' clinics, this phenomenon has left positive and negative effects economically, socially and urbanistically. The study recommended updating and widening the street and providing it with directional means and traffic signs, and relocating some uses that are a cause of traffic congestion. It also recommended applying sustainable urban planning standards and upgrading the streets parallel to Street 20.
