This study investigates the phenomenon of "Ghost Farms" in Al-Hindiya District, Karbala Governorate. These are agricultural areas that have lost their productive function and turned into abandoned lands due to environmental degradation. The study aims to diagnose the geographical factors behind this phenomenon and analyze its spatial impacts. The research adopted a descriptive-analytical approach supported by field surveys and modern geospatial techniques. The findings reveal that 46.9% of the arable land in the district has transformed into ghost farms by 2024. This transformation is driven by a combination of "natural pressure" (Euphrates water scarcity) and "urban attraction" (urban sprawl and land fragmentation). The study recommends the enforcement of orchard protection laws and a radical shift toward advanced irrigation technologies to sustain the remaining green belts.
