Military geography plays a crucial and fundamental role in the theater of military operations, determining technologies and the size of military spending. It increases the interest of various service sectors in facilitating and finding solutions to problems facing military operations, such as relief, transportation, supplies, support, and intelligence. This is because military geography includes studying the land or theater where military operations take place and addresses the natural features of that land, such as mountains and rivers, and the impact of these features on determining military movements and progress. It also includes selecting the necessary weapons and equipment for the geographical theater of operations. Before the start of military operations, preparations for the battle involved training the largest possible number of Iraqi forces from various branches in a joint operations room by the international coalition and Iraqi security leaders. Iraq worked to provide advanced technologies and a variety of weapons from diverse sources, as it contracted with several countries (Russia, China, Iran). The arrival of weapons in large quantities and in a short period of time gave a morale boost to the Iraqi forces in liberating areas from ISIS terrorist gangs and let us not forget the first and greatest credit given to the wise religious authorityforthefatwaofsufficient jihad.
