Tunisian history is full of many events after independence from France in 1956, as Tunisia witnessed a series of political, social and economic transformations. The period of rule of Habib Bourguiba began, who led Tunisia as President of the Republic from its independence until 1987. During the rule of President Bourguiba, Tunisia witnessed improvements in infrastructure, education, and health, but at the same time there were restrictions on political freedoms. In 1987, Bourguiba was overthrown in a peaceful coup led by Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who ruled the country until 2011. The Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram, which was founded in 1875 and is considered one of the most prominent Arab newspapers, had a prominent role in covering these events and relations in the numbers that it published.
