This study seeks to shed light on an overlooked Iraqi scholar from Mosul, Sheikh Fathallah Al-Mawsili (d. 1162 AH), whose legacy has been neglected by many researchers due to his retreat to a remote village far from public attention. By divine grace, I have undertaken the task of verifying and analyzing the verses in which he praised the Prophet’s companion Ka‘b ibn Zuhayr (may Allah be pleased with him) in his renowned poem Banat Su‘ad. The research highlights the linguistic subtleties, grammatical intricacies, and rhetorical flourishes elucidated by Al-Mawsili in his commentary. This effort stems from a commitment to preserving the intellectual heritage of our esteemed scholars. The study is prefaced by a comprehensive introduction to the author, aiming to deliver an integrated academic work that serves students and researchers dedicated to classical Arabic heritage.
