This research focuses on “personal references in the poetry of Namik Sultan,” using his collection (As if I Were Walking on a Tightrope) as a practical example. The research begins by defining the general meaning of references and tracing their presence in the poetic text, classifying these representations according to a binary (presence and absence). The first type includes pronouns referring to the speaker and the addressee, as well as demonstrative pronouns, while the second type includes pronouns referring to the absent and relative pronouns.The research investigates the effectiveness of these clues in their discursive context, describing them as a network of textual relationships capable of transforming discourse from a purely “subjective given” to a living “interaction” with the other in the textual space.The importance of this research is evident in its revelation of the poet's emotional experience through the dynamics of pronouns that embody the existential tension between the self and the other. The research concludes with a set of fundamental findings that open new horizons for understanding the structure of the collection and the aesthetics of its referential language.
