Evidence of Al-Rummani’s explanation (d. 384 AH) in the Genitives

Abstract

The research aims to study the evidence provided in Al-Rumani's commentary on Sibawayh's Book concerning genitives, highlighting the opinions of grammarians on the discussed issues, examining how Al-Rumani's views align or differ with these opinions, and attempting to weigh in on certain issues where necessary. This is done without being bound by chronological limitations regarding the opinions of earlier, later, or contemporary scholars. The study is applied to select examples from Quranic and poetic genitive evidence and prose, with an introduction and discussion preceding each example about the topic of the chapter being studied to ensure the reader is informed about the issues for which the evidence is presented. It should be noted that the poetic verses were explained and their linguistic significance was provided in order to benefit the reader and the relationship of some meanings to the grammatical significance of the witness.
