The Contributions of the Scholars and Historians of Wasit in Baghdad in Light of Ibn al-Dubaythi's Book 'Dhail Tarikh Madinat al-Salam' (d. 637 AH / 1239 CE)

Abstract

The city of Wasit witnessed the emergence of many scholars in various branches of science and knowledge, which helped its geographical location to participate effectively in most of the important political events that took place in Iraq throughout the late Abbasid eras. The city expanded greatly on both sides of the Tigris, and it continued to maintain the prosperity of its construction and the expansion of its area throughout. During this period, there was development in social life, and it became one of the important cultural centers in the Islamic world.

This research aims to present a presentation of the most prominent hadith scholars and historians of the city of Wasit and their scientific contributions to Baghdad in the light of the book The History of the City of Peace by Ibn al-Dubaithi (d. 637 AH/1239 AD(.
