Abstract

The city of Wasit witnessed the emergence of many scholars in various branches of science and knowledge, which helped its geographical location to participate effectively in most of the important political events that took place in Iraq throughout the late Abbasid eras. The city expanded greatly on both sides of the Tigris, and it continued to maintain the prosperity of its construction and the expansion of its area throughout. During this period, there was development in social life, and it became one of the important cultural centers in the Islamic world.
