The Practical Aspect of Preference Based on Context in the Interpretation of Ma'mun Hamous in His Tafsir (Al-Tafsir Al-Ma'moun)

Abstract

    The trustworthy interpretation, which we find on the method of revelation and the authentic Sunnah, by its author, Professor Dr. Mamoun Hamoush, is one of the interpretations that dealt with interpretation by the transmitted, following the example of the interpreters who preceded him, such as Imam Ibn Jarir al-Tabari, Ibn Kathir, and others. Its author committed to making his interpretation in this manner, but he sought to avoid some of the objections to these interpretations, such as citing weak and flimsy hadiths, or citing interpretive statements with the prophetic hadiths as if they were equal to them, which he mentioned criticizing those who preceded him, and as I will explain, God willing, when I talk about the reason for his writing the book. This interpretation contains extensive scientific material that needs to be highlighted and people should be informed of this interpretation and the blessed effort in it. I do not claim perfection in it, as it is a human effort on one hand, and because God Almighty did not write perfection except for His noble book, but I found it to be a comprehensive interpretation of several aspects that demonstrate the breadth of its author’s knowledge and insight, so I chose, with the help of God Almighty, to highlight one aspect of it with regard to preference based on the context in it.
