The Efforts of the Ahl al-Bayt Regarding the Reasons for Revelation, as Per Abu al-Su'ud in (Guiding the Sound Mind to the Merits of the Holy Qur'an)

Abstract

The Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) played a pivotal role and made great efforts in interpreting the Holy Quran. This stems from their special status, which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) referred to in numerous hadiths, including the Hadith of the Two Weighty Things (Hadith al-Thaqalayn), (“The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: ‘I have left among you that which, if you hold fast to, you will never go astray after me: the Book of God and my family, my household. They will never separate until they return to me at the Cistern.’”) This hadith establishes the status of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) as the second reference after the Holy Quran for understanding Islamic law and interpreting the Book
