Abstract

This research revolves around studying the main character in Hilmi Al-Qaoud's novels because this character has a very important function in constructing the novel and is a basic element of narrative construction. Dr. Hilmi Al-Qaoud has chosen his fictional characters with great care according to the role he chose for that character. In each of his novels, Dr. Hilmi Al-Qaoud addresses a general issue from reality in a beautiful artistic way by linking the characters of his work with its events and dialogues. The character in the novel may play this role, or it may be a source of solace for the reader, or it may be the example by which he can confront his problems, or it may be the example that should be avoided. The fictional character is the source of the novelist's creativity, and this is what we find in Dr. Hilmi Al-Qaoud's novels.
