Abstract
This research examines the establishment of the League of Arab States and the development of its role during the period between 1945 and 1970, a crucial stage in modern Arab history that witnessed major political transformations. These included the end of the Second World War, the emergence of the Palestinian question, attempts at Arab unity, and the rise of regional and international challenges that impacted joint Arab action. The study explores the League’s evolution in terms of its foundation and historical context, highlighting its organizational structure and main bodies, before addressing its role in political affairs and its capacity to represent
The research concludes that the League represented a significant step forward in the framework of Arab cooperation; however, it faced structural and functional challenges that limited its effectiveness, such as the absence of binding mechanisms for decision implementation and the divergence of national policies among member states. Despite these constraints, the League provided an important Arab political and media platform that contributed to unifying Arab political discourse, even if it fell short of meeting popular aspirations for unity and integration.
