Abstract

The science of Qur’anic exegesis (Tafsir) is among the greatest and most honorable of sciences due to its direct connection with the words of Allah Almighty. For this reason, the Companions, the Successors, and those scholars who followed them were devoted to understanding its meanings and reflecting upon its verses, competing in serving it and striving to clarify its purposes. Among these scholars was the eminent scholar Muhammad Siddiq al-Qanuji (d. 1307 AH), the author of Fath al-Bayan fi Maqasid al-Qur’an, who excelled in formulating and deriving interpretive questions (tasā’ulāt tafsīriyyah), reflecting the depth of his insight and his distinguished scholarly status.

Accordingly, this study was entitled: Interpretive Questions in al-Qanuji’s Tafsir Fath al-Bayan in Surah al-Tawbah: Collection and Study.”
