(Al-Naqb) Words in the Holy Quran: A Grammatical Study

A grammatical study is part of linguistic studies that help students to understand and interpret texts. The intended interaction and link will not be achieved if the grammatical form is examined independently. Semantics and grammar have a reciprocal relation in which one contributes elements that assist defining and differentiating the other. Therefore, the focus of the current paper is the terms that can be traced back to a single linguistic root, the root (n, q, b). Three words that have the linguistic root (n, q, b) are found in the Holy Quran which are (naqba, naqiba, and naqabbawu). Every word has a linguistic meaning which is a lexical meaning, as well as a particular connotation created by its context. Accordingly, the research plan is divided into three parts focusing on the words (naqba, naqiba, and naqabbawu) respectively. The conclusions show that there is a distinction between the explicit and implied sources, and that all of these words converge at the meaning of digging out or searching
