Research Summary
The Ayyubid and Mamluk eras in the Levant and Egypt have attracted the attention of many researchers and scholars, whose research has focused on political, administrative, and social aspects.
During these two eras, distinguished scholarly families emerged and played a major role in shaping history and contributing to it in intellectual, religious, social, and various aspects of public life.
The Banu Ghanem family is one of the families that has historically played a prominent administrative role. It is considered one of the noble and prestigious families in the region, and has had a significant influence on administrative affairs. This family has held numerous positions in Egypt and the Levant, including judicial, preaching, fatwa, and writing positions, among other administrative positions held by the Banu Ghanem al-Maqdisi family during the Islamic Middle Ages.
