Abstract

This study aims to shed light on the city of Fez as one of the most prominent Islamic cities, whose influence extended beyond the borders of Morocco to reach the entire Islamic world. The study examines the development of the city of Fez since its inception, observing the political, social, and urban transformations it has experienced throughout history. These transformations were closely linked to the changes witnessed in Morocco and the Islamic Maghreb in general. The importance of Fez lies in its status as a center of attraction for tribes, scholars, and students, which contributed to shaping its cultural and scientific identity and making it the country's primary political and cultural capital. The study relies on the book "The Harvest of the Myrtle Flower in the Construction of the City of Fez" by the historian Ali Al-Jaznai, as an important historical and architectural source that documents the city's emergence and urban development, revealing its cultural dimensions and distinguished position in Islamic history.
