This research revolves around explaining the position taken by the prominent Shia figures in Kufa towards Ubayd Allah bin Ziyad during his term as governor, as Ubayd Allah assumed the emirate of Kufa in the year 60 AH by order of Yazid bin Muawiyah He remained its governor until the death of Yazid bin Muawiyah in the year 64 AH. The elders of the Shiites in Kufa had an opposing stance to Ubayd Allah bin Ziyad, so Sharik bin Al-Awar wanted to physically liquidate him in the house of Hani bin Urwa. As for Hani bin Urwa, Muslim bin Aqeel moved to his house after he had been in the house of Al-Mukhtar. Bin Abi Ubaid Al-Thaqafi when Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) sent him to the people of Kufa, which prompted Ibn Ziyad to kill him. As for Maitham bin Yahya Al-Tamar, Ibn Ziyad killed him because of his dissemination of the virtues of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon them both), and Ibn Ziyad imprisoned Al-Mukhtar bin Abi Ubaid Al-Thaqafi because of his position. Al-Muayyad Muslim bin Aqeel and Ibn Ziyad Abdullah bin Afif Al-Azdi were killed as a result of his stance with which he confronted him in the Kufa Mosque, where he exposed him and Yazid bin Muawiyah.
