The Standards of Acceptability and Informativeness and Their Impact on Text Cohesion: The Poetry of Adnan Al-Sayegh as a Model

Abstract

This research focuses on two elements of textuality proposed by "De Beaugrande"—acceptability
and informativeness—and examines their impact on achieving textuality. The poetry of Adnan
Al-Sayegh has been selected as a sample to demonstrate the influence of these two elements in
his work
The study concludes that these elements, particularly informativeness, play a significant role in
the poet's work. The element of informativeness is especially evident to the audience through the
poet's use of this mechanism
