Abstract

The research dealt with the phenomenon of speech acts and the extent to which they are affected by the concept of textual communication, which is a characteristic of the cognitive connection between the speaker and the reader or recipient in Khairy Al-Badri's poetry; whose cognitive tools were full of direct and indirect speech acts in contexts. Therefore, there was a need to identify the poet's ability to perform the performative act in his poetry, and his linguistic and cognitive ability, which had a clear impact on the linguistic pragmatic study. The research also shed light on the pragmatic theory in general and speech acts in particular, due to the interest of linguists and linguists in this theory. Based on the above, the research adopted the descriptive and analytical approach in its study, as the need began to analyze selected models of Khairy Al-Badri's poetry, to establish for us this theory that the poetic tools that the poet employed in his poetry are worthy of attention and study. The research came out with important results that the theory of speech acts explained many diverse purposes, as we see it; according to the contexts of speech and conditions and the diversity of the speaker's intentions and the extent of their impact on the recipient. We have discussed speech acts (directives) according to Searle's classification.
