The research aims to understand the concept of blockchain technology, the advantages and disadvantages of using blockchain technology and its operating principles, identify the types of blockchain and their main components, and explore the uses, applications, and benefits of blockchain technology in various fields. It also explores its uses in libraries and information technology. The research followed a descriptive and historical approach by examining documentary studies. The research concluded that blockchain is a highly effective digital technology for exchanging values over the internet. It was created to solve the problem of lack of trust in transactions between two parties without the need for a third party intermediary. Blockchain technology also features the fact that data and information stored on blockchains are securely and transparently preserved and cannot be modified. It also speeds up access to transactions, evidence, and documents, and improves the accuracy of information. The most important recommendations emerging from the research are to increase awareness of the importance of modern technologies, including blockchain technology, through training, development, and holding specialized scientific conferences and seminars.
