The research "Semantics in the Poem 'Days of Baghdad' by Jamil Sidqi Al-Zahawi: A Lexical Study", deals with analyzing vocabulary and its meanings. Since such studies are not new but the interest has grown recently, accomplished with various theories and hypotheses which have developed to cover all aspects of language—particularly the Arabic language purposely to maintain pace with the innovations of modern linguists. One of the most important theories is the theory of semantic fields, which cared about analyzing the poem "Days of Baghdad". This poem is considered as a literary documentation of an important period in the modern history of Baghdad, in which the poet himself experienced. Many poets of his era used modern vocabulary, Al-Zahawi stood out by expressing the cultural background and channeling into his poetry in special and recognizable way that reflects his intellectual and linguistic perspective.
