The concept of the ego is a variable concept according to the contexts in which it is used, including philosophical, psychological, literary, scientific, and social contexts, as it is a concept that refers to the individual self or personal self. Philosophy may see it as representing the self that perceives, thinks, and is the center of awareness and subjective experience. However, in psychology, the ego plays as a mediator between the id and desires. The instinct, the superego, and moral and social values, and seeks to achieve a balance between them. Perhaps the connection of poetry to self-consciousness documents the connection between the poet’s ego and the poem in general, especially the pre-Islamic poem in particular.
