Abstract

Ibn Al-Jawzi was quite brief in his discussion of the lives and biographies of the caliphs, often limiting his commentary to just a few lines—no more than four—on each specific caliph. It seems that through his writings, he aimed to cater to the inclinations of the Abbasid caliphs. He frequently praised and lauded them, refraining from criticizing any of them in any part of his work.
