Abstract

The research shed light on the role of the Southern Front in Sudanese political life, which was able to fill the political vacuum for southerners inside Sudan, due to the presence of most of the well-known southern political leaders outside Sudan. In view of this, it sought to seize the initiative from the Sanu Party, which was exhausted by the intensity of division and disintegration, and demanded the secession of South Sudan or Granting him the right to self-determination, in addition to that, it worked to unify southern views in order to achieve the aspirations of southerners for social, economic, political and cultural freedom, as well as its effective participation in preparing for the holding of the Round Table Conference, by sending its delegations to East African countries to persuade the leaders of SANU to participate in Sudanese political life and ending the civil war that exhausted the southerners, but those efforts brought it into conflict with William Deng after his return to Sudan, because of its effort to have the exclusive right to represent South Sudan in any negotiations with the government and the northern political parties regarding the south. The Southern Front also made great efforts to prevent The northern parties were unable to approve a constitution based on the principles of Islamic Sharia.
