The research came to study the music of poetry in the poetry of Abd al-Qais bin Khafaf al-Barjami because he was one of the poets of the pre-Islamic era. The poets of this era were distinguished by their sense of music and their distinct taste in choosing words that suit their poetic purpose, so their poetry was the closest thing to sweet pieces of music.
The research was divided into two sections preceded by an introduction to the poet. The first included external music, which included a comprehensive prosodic study of his poetry with statistics for the use of rhymes, and a study of rhyme with statistics for the rhymes used in his poetry.
The second section included a study of internal music, which included alliteration, counterpoint, the response of the sacrum to the chest, and repetition in its three levels, which was a characteristic that distinguished his poetry.
