Constructing and Codifying the Personal Striving Scale According to Emmons’ Theory in the Struggles of University StudentS

Abstract

The current research aimed to build and codify a measure of Personal Striving according to Emmons' theory of Strivings among university students. In order to achieve this goal, the researcher defined the concept of personal struggle

The research population was chosen from Iraqi university students for the academic year 2023-2024 to ensure its psychometric properties

Theoretical framework: The researcher discussed the measurement theories and the theory adopted in constructing the Personal Striving Scale

Search procedures:  

To build and codify the Personal Striving Scale, (28) items were prepared based on Emmons’ point of view. They were applied to a sample of (400) male and female students from Iraqi universities. They were presented to a group of experts and the psychometric properties were conducted on it, and the results were extracted based on the (SPSS) program

The researcher presented a set of recommendations and propositions.
