Abstract

Time is an essential element of the prose genres in general, and the novel in particular, because it is impossible to imagine a novel that takes place outside the framework of time. As for the place, there are many definitions of it in the novel construction, but it remains an important element of the artistic construction of the literary text, there are those who called it the place, there are those who called it space, and there are those who called it the term space in which the characters move and events take place, there is no novel outside the place.
The place in the novel has an important role, through it we know what the characters are doing, where they go, where they come back and where they live, and the place has been divided into an outer space and a place to stay, the outer space is the vast space of the novel and it includes all the places, and the place of stay is where the characters live and settle.
The place plays an important role along with time, amplifying the element of aesthetic sensation, the element of suspense, the element of taste, and the element of artistic response, so that we have a tight narrative structure, and it is not mentioned in the story in terms of a tangible physical space, but in terms of being one of the important themes, on which the narrative is based, and its connection with the characters and other narrative problems are the most prominent characteristics of the modern artistic story: the time of the story, which is the time of the narrative material, and each narrative material has a beginning and an end, it takes place in a certain time
