This period was characterized by many conflicts between members of the Buyid house over power. After the death of Baha al-Dawla, his son Sultan al-Dawla, King of Iraq, and Faris Abu Shuja, the son of Khusraw ibn Baha al-Dawla, assumed power in the year (403 AH/1012 AD). His period of rule was characterized by many conflicts and rebellions that were the reason for his abandonment of Baghdad. Independence under the rule of Persia, as well as his resentment against his minister, Fakhr al-Mulk, all of these reasons led to his independence under the rule of Persia, as well as the end of the position (the position of Buyid viceroy), which had been created since the time of his father, Baha al-Dawla, and with this, Iraq’s independence from the central authority in Persia was restored.
